On the occassion of the reopening of Therme Erding’s doors to the public, following an extensive renovation of key areas Therme, VitalOase, Vital & Sauna and Entry Foyer, Therme Art presented Flying Waters Erding by Icelandic artist Egill Sæbjörnsson as one of two new site-specific artworks that integrate seamlessly into the architectural design and thermal bathing experience.

Positioned within an intimate circular pool called the Jungbrunnen, Flying Waters Erding is a generative video projection of animated water jets that appear to soar between sculptural elements and plants installed along the wall behind the circular wellness pool. As the work is fully generative, no pattern ever repeats – each moment offers a unique visual choreography. As visitors sit and relax in the warm water, the ever-changing animated jets move with a playful, game-like quality, blending the digital and physical dimensions of contemporary life. Anyone who enters the Jungbrunnen naturally becomes part of the artwork and vice versa, creating a dynamic interplay between real and virtual movement. The work celebrates the importance of taking time off and play, reflecting Therme Group’s commitment to creating environments designed for rest and connection to support a more balanced and sustainable way of living.
The artwork was conceived by Egill Sæbjörnsson to reflect Therme Group’s philosophy of wellbeing and its belief in the restorative potential of environments shaped in alignment with nature.
